As many of you know, March Madness is my favorite time of year. Why I enjoy this time of year is because no matter what has happened up until this point, everyone has a chance of accomplishing something great. During the school year, everyone experiences highs and lows and at some point faces adversity. How we deal with these challenging situations helps us as we prepare for future challenges. Regardless of previous outcomes, what happens in the next couple of weeks will ultimately decide how successful our year was.
Right now is the time when we need to reflect, reassess, and develop a plan to put ourselves and students in a situation to be successful. Regardless of how we might perceive how good or poor the year was, what happens in the next couple of weeks will ultimately determine the fate of the school year. While we reflect, we need to think about the experiences that we provided students that gave them opportunities to be successful. How did we actively engage students? How did we get students to reflect on their learning? As we reassess what are we doing to meet the needs of individual students?
These questions should help us develop our plan of action as we move forward towards the end of the year. As I mentioned above, I love this time of year. I always knew that this season provided the opportunity for students to showcase their learning that occurred during the school year. As we prepare for the upcoming days, take time to reflect, reassess, and develop a plan that will put our students in the position to be successful. As we take on the madness that is March, remember that you have a great support system that is always willing to help with any situation. Have a great week and more than ever, BREAK UP YOUR OODA!!!!
