Happy Halloween everyone!!! I hope everyone has a great weekend, especially those with little ones. I know how much fun this time of year is for the younger kids. Earlier this week I had the opportunity to present and attend the MOREnet conference in Columbia. Michelle and I received some great feedback on how well our district is doing getting the staff connected and how we have differentiated our professional development at the building and district level. I attended some really good sessions on tools that will help teachers and students create content that can be shared with anyone at any time. These sessions also got me even more fired up about the iPad rollout that will be happening soon.
Another extremely beneficial take away from this conference were the new connections that were made and the face to face connections that were made with people that I have been communicating with via social media for a number of years. The conversations that we had with new and old connections were tremendously valuable in gathering information that will help us as a building as we move forward with our 1:1 initiative.
This weekend again reminded me how valuable that having a diverse, well-rounded PLN is. I know you have heard me preach this some more, but I feel very strongly about this and think it is good to be reminded from time to time. There are teachers out there that teach the same subject as you that have the same interests as you and that are willing to collaborate and share ideas. I know it can be a bit intimidating reaching out but remember these are teachers. They love helping and sharing with others. As we move forward with the rollout or if there is something you are interested in trying in your classroom, remember that there are thousands of teachers that have done it before and will be more than happy to share all of their experiences and successes with you. Have a great Halloween and remember to break up your OODA!!!!
