It’s hard to believe that a month from now we will be on summer break. My mom constantly reminds me that the longer you are in education the quicker the school years go. As we begin testing next week, please take time whether you are testing students or not to encourage students to do their best on the MAP. You don’t need to give them a 20 minute long pep talk but just some positive words of encouragement to know that you want them to do their best on the test and that they have an opportunity to show how well they mastered the material taught to them this year.
We have all read or heard by now that the district is taking steps to provide technology for every teacher and student. There have been some decisions made for next year. First is that every classroom teacher will be provided with an iPad Air. Also, each classroom will also be equipped with Apple TV. As for students, it was decided that we will provide every 6th grade student with an iPad Air beginning in January. As with any new initiative or program there are many questions that need to be and are going to be asked. I would encourage you to see me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the technology rollout. I do not have all of the answers, but I will make sure that they are given to someone who can answer them.
I also want to encourage you to talk with Chris, Keelie, your PDC reps (Chelsea and I) if you have any professional development wants or needs regarding the technology rollout. We know that everyone is in different place ability wise with the technology that will be given to each of you. Like you would do with your students, we want to meet the individual needs of all learners. Whether it is turning on the device and downloading apps or if it is locating apps that will help flip your classroom, ask us. We want to provide you as much professional development as you need so that you and your students will be successful next year. Have a great weekend and TURN UP THE HEAT!!!!!!!
